We took a field trip to the Kelton House Museum. We learned a lot about what life was like in the mid to late 1800's, and we learned more about the Underground Railroad and Ohio's role.
The students worked as entrepreneurs to create their own businesses. They thought through the resources they would need to gather, the risks they would need to take, and the decisions they would have to make in order to compete with other businesses. Use the document below to choose which store front location to use. The students practiced research skills by finding sources on the same topic and categorizing them as primary or secondary sources. We had some great conversations on how to decide if a source is primary (firsthand) or secondary (secondhand).
